Ocean Universal in Westcourt, Cairns stocks a solid spearfishing selection. Not surprising — the business traded as Spearfishing Superstore, so spearo gear hasn't gone anywhere.
The range includes rail spearguns, camo wetsuits, carbon and fibreglass fins, low-volume masks, weight belts, floats, dive knives, and general spearo accessories. Everything's picked for tropical conditions — not temperate stuff that won't source last in FNQ.
The rebrand to Ocean Universal because the business had already added scuba and freediving equipment over the years. But the spearo side wasn't scaled down. Spearfishing is still central to what of the business.
The crew are FNQ spearfishers and advise on what works on Great Barrier Reef spots.
